London, The Barbara, and Hotfungirl
I flew to London to visit Hana, we made a speakeasy in her apartment and I watched her take on the world with her art.
London was a blur of colours and pictures and emotions. Hana seems to do 5 things at once and I was so glad to be along for the ride. The Barbara is a one-night-only speakeasy we made in her apartment and it reminded me that actually I can do anything, there are no rules, you can do anything too did you know?
I flew into London to see Hana. She is having an art show of her work and also has this idea to start a speakeasy in her apartment called The Barbara. We immediately begin setting up by getting naked and putting twinkle lights on the ceiling.
Darling Hana looking like an angel in the light
The person who used to rent this apartment left boxes of pads and we used them to cover one of the walls in the bathroom, as a decoration for The Barbara. This is Hana rolling around in the pads paper backings like Scrooge McDuck swimming in money.
what a treasure
Hana and Maddy at their art show. Hana is showing prints of her photography, all 35mm film, and Maddy is showing her graduate collection from fashion school.
The night of The Barbara. We put up the lights and covered the apartment in Hana's prints. Her friends come early and we drink and smoke on the ledge outside her bedroom window. Somehow I feel the pain of opening, as if I'd closed myself and now the possibilities that i hadn't even thought of are showing themselves and creating new cracks in my psyche.

Hana took this picture of me, I was so nervous I shut my eyes.
Hanging out before the party is always the best part. I love Hana so much she's confident and wild and shows me another way, a different way, where the rules bend or disappear altogether.

At The Barbara
Hana met this man playing piano on the street and asked him to come play at The Barbara. He played for 3 hours (the neighbours were furious).
The apartment was packed with people, most of them artists and some that Hana had met on her travels (like me).
yours truly
Sometimes I get nervous in group settings like big parties. I mean one-on-one I'm very comfortable but in a group I tend to go really quiet. When the night began I was sitting by myself on the roof smoking and feeling like an alien, but I met Lawrence and he was also a weirdo and he made me feel at home in the crowd
I made this sign by hand for The Barbara. We ran out of ink in the sharpie but I decided it seemed clever that "The Bar" was in black and left it as is.
Hana created a magazine called hotfungirl, she included some of my work in it as well bless her, and we had an art show and magazine launch at a cafe/gallery in London. Still Life of Cake and Mag.

After the show
I met Gean last year in Serejevo and we had a wild time together, he put me on his back and we ran through the streets late in the night I'll never forget it. I met him again in London the world is so small.
